Huazhong University of Science and Technology "Energy Conversion System Research Group" Introduction
The group of Center for Energy Conversion and System (CECS) in Huazhong University of Science and Technology (Hust) is established by Xu Wei, one of the National Youth Thousands Program Specialists. Since its establishment in September 2015, it has been focusing on theoretical research and products development of motor design, motor control, power electronic modulation, and related control strategies. The main types of motors include (but are not limited to) linear motor, permanent magnet motor, Doubly-fed motor, pulsed induction sub-motor, high efficiency high-speed motor, etc.The member of the team is young, energetic, brave and dedicated, including four co-teachers (most of them are around 35 years old).Besides, the team has a total of 30 doctoral and master degree students.
The teachers in the team presided more than 20 projects, including one national special fund for young people, six National Natural Science Foundation of China projects, one international talent fund (funded by foreign countries), one scientific and technological support plan from Hubei Province and a number of cooperation projects. More than 40 papers in SCI journals were accepted and published. One English book (Springer) were published and another is preparing. Besides, more than 50 invention patents were authorized or accepted. In addition, a number of achievements were identified by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and some of the figure was identified as "advanced international and domestic leader."
The team adheres to the concept of "establishing business ideas and doing innovative research"and earnestly fulfills the principle of "two firmnesses" (firm foreign exchange and firm resolute world-class) and "two adherences" (adhere to self-reliance and adhere to independent innovation).It also regard the “made in China "as its own responsibility and will move forward even in the stormy and endeavor.
The team actives in the international (or internal) academic frontier.The team teachers are senior members of IEEE Institute, China Electro-technical Society and China Power Association. They were invited to report in international conference for 5 times, participate in organizing international conferences for 4 times, hold more than 30 sessions as chair of International Conferences and serve as the guest editor of many international SCI journals which include a monograph for Linear Motors and System of the 2018 IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics (IEEE TIE, SCI-I Journal of Electrical Engineering, IF = 7.2). Since September 2015, the team of graduated students have won 2 national scholarships, 4 outstanding papers from Hubei Province and 4 Best Paper Awards in international conferences.
The team places great emphasis on international and domestic academic exchanges.The team has invited nearly 40 experts around the world in electrical engineering and related fields to lecture (exchange) at the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering of Huazhong University of Science and Technology since September 2015. The team teacher initiated and hosted together the first China Linear Motor Technology Exchange meeting (Chengdu) in 2016 and organized Annual Meeting of Center for Energy Conversion System(industry-university-research cooperation, technology exchange meeting) facing national enterprises and universities next year(January).And the team teacher was invited to give lectures on Linear Motors and Systems at ICEMS and IECON in 2017 (3-hour Tutorial) and will host the 2nd China Linear Motor Technology Exchange meeting (Wuhan) and so on.
Our team members have won more than 10 international and domestic academic awards so far,including the UTS Key Technology Partnership Visiting Fellow (KTP-VF) (Australia), RMIT Vice Chancellor Research Fellow (Australia), JSPS Invitation Research Fellow (Japan) Australia VIC Award (Industrial Application Category) (Australia), Young Overseas High-level Talents Introduction Plan young talents. Team teachers have been invited as Visiting Professors for many internationally renowned universities such as Meiji University, University of Technology Sydney, Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology, Aalborg University.
The team attaches great importance to interaction with enterprises, and actively promotes cooperation between industry, academia and research.The team teacher was invited to be the director of Hubei Electromagnetic Equipment Engineering Technology Research Center and devoted to the research and development of various high-performance motors and drive systems, mainly for the major social needs of the rail transit, servo system, new energy and aerospace industries focusing on high-performance motor design, motor control and power electronic modulation strategy based. At present, many patents of the team have been applied in practical projects. Products such as high-performance linear induction motors and high torque density permanent magnet synchronous motors have been applied successively. Relevant achievements have won provincial (city) level scientific and technological progress awards and technological invention awards 2 times.
The school of electrical and electronic engineering at Huazhong University of Science and Technology, where our team is located, has excellent software and hardware conditions.The college has the State Key Laboratory of Strong Electromagnetic Engineering and New Technology, the State Key Laboratory of New-type Electric Machinery, the Key Laboratory of Power Electronics and Energy Management, the New-type Motor and Special Electromagnetic Equipment Engineering Center of the Ministry of Education, Engineering Research Center, Key Laboratory of Electrical Safety and High Efficiency Hubei Province and other powerful research platform. The electrical engineering discipline for the first batch of domestic first-level discipline doctorate and the first batch of national key disciplines, in 2012 the Ministry of Education Degree Center ranked first in the assessment of the country and won the national " 211 Project "and" 985 Project "key disciplines. School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering has complete motor analysis and control software (such as Ansoft, Ansys, CFDesign, Matlab, Psim, etc.. It has a 100-kilowatt motor test platform, a large permanent magnet direct-drive wind power test platform, a large synchronous permanent magnet traction motor test platform and a high-performance special motor test platform. The main equipment includes ABB four-quadrant inverter, 250kW drive motor and transmission device, energy feedback system, data test and test monitoring system, Dspace high-performance real-time simulation system and various electromagnetic, mechanical, thermal field, noise and vibration test Instruments and a variety of high-end digital oscilloscopes. Good hardware and software conditions contribute to the various types of motor theoretical analysis, performance testing and control strategies testing, and has laid a great foundation for the cooperation between production and research.
